Our Story

Born by the Sea, Built for Community

I’ve been an op shopper since I was a teenager, drawn to the stories that live in pre-loved clothes and the joy of finding something special. But through motherhood, I found myself frustrated by how hard it was to source quality second-hand baby clothes locally on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

I spent hours trawling through Facebook Marketplace, hoping to find beautiful pieces for my little one. But too often, what looked promising online arrived stained, pilled, or worn out - and I’d already driven 20 or 30 minutes across town to pick it up. It felt like a lot of effort for a little reward.

So I’d end up buying new, knowing those tiny outfits would only be worn a handful of times before my baby girl outgrew them. Between the endless growth spurts and the racks of fast fashion, I felt caught in a cycle of overconsumption that didn’t sit right.

That’s how Second Wave Kids came to life, inspired by our beautiful coastline and the idea of giving great pieces a second wave of love.

Why We Exist

Second Wave Kids is about slowing down and rethinking how we shop for our little ones. We make it easy to buy and sell quality kidswear within our community, so great clothes can be passed on, not thrown out.

You shouldn’t need to buy new every time your baby grows. Chances are, your neighbour, cousin, or friend already has something beautiful that’s ready for its next home.

We’re here to make those connections easier, more joyful, and more sustainable one tiny outfit at a time.
